I’ve been in the Delta a little over six months now, and I can truly say that I have enjoyed being here, and I have become familiar with the people of the Delta and their heritage. I’ve found them to be hard working, supportive and concerned about their communities. They are warm, caring people who want to provide the best medical services possible in their communities.

Our staff is made up of professionals who are competent, intelligent and willing to carry out their duties with pride and accuracy.

We have hired more than 60 employees in the last six months to ease the work load of those loyal employees who were already here and to fill new positions created by the changes and growth taking place here at HCMH.

It has been a privilege to work with the medical personnel here. Although they could work anywhere they want to work, they chose to work here in the Delta where they can make a difference in their community. That makes them invaluable because we know they are dedicated to the community and to Humphreys County Memorial. Dr. Mack Gorton has been here 35 years. That says a lot about the community and the hospital.

People who work here have a passion for their work that allows us to give the community quality healthcare. But it is not only our hospital personnel who have that passion. The members of the Humphreys County Board of Supervisors, the Hospital Board and the people of the community also have that passion.

We will not compromise excellent healthcare because we reside in a rural community. Anything less is unacceptable.

We have the same needs a hospital in a large city has and in some cases our needs are greater. In fact, we are often more challenged in the Delta because we have a higher rate of obesity, heart problems, diabetes and hypertension than anywhere in the United States. Because of these diseases, good healthcare in the Delta is very important.

We are in the process of adding kidney dialysis and ventilator capabilities and acquiring a new CT scan. We’ve had a complete computer system update. We are the process of recruiting more physicians to join us here at HCMH. We have 11 doctors on staff at the present time.

We have such a compassionate, friendly staff. We want everyone who enters here for whatever reason to be treated like a VIP.
